Groups: Tokyo American Club

The Tokyo American Club (TAC) no longer has a formal tennis group.  TAC members informally get together for two different approaches to participating in tennis, both usually using the public courts.

TAC also had reciprocal arrangements with the Yokohama Country & Athletic Club for use of the 9 courts there.  Ask the Recreation Office about current arrangements.

A.  An informal group of tennis players who focus on weekend/evening play times.   The group used to have a cooperative that goes through the Minato ward lottery system to get weekend/evening use of the Arisugawa Koen public courts an average of 10 to 15 times per month.  A subset of the group also played "competitive" doubles at the Jingu Gaien public courts for two hours every weekend.

I may still have names of persons in this informal group.  Contact me at dharris@tkb.att.ne.jp to find out.

B.  TAC members who have weekday daytime hours available also use the Arisugawa Koen and other public courts several times a week.  These persons are not in the TAC group mentioned above nor in any formal structure - they've just learned how to get use of the courts and develop a set of likeminded tennis friends with whom they play.   To get into this, see the info on the Minato ward lottery system, follow the steps for registering, get some courts, and then ask others who show up to use neighboring courts.
