The New York Giants have yet to prove to me this season that they are going to be playoff contenders. In fact they might not even make the playoffs this year if they continue slumping like they have been as of late. The Giants started the season off with a 5-0 record and things were looking great in New York. After the past two weeks though, the Giants have fallen to 5-2 and have a losing streak of 2 games. Despite losing two games in a row the Giants hold a small lead over the Eagles and Cowboys in the NFC East division. The Giants are a game up on both the Eagles and Cowboys though so these recent losses have put the Giants in a bad situation.

Eli Manning started off the NFL season with a few promising wins and it looked like the Giants were on their way to another playoff run. Eli has since lost to the Saints and Cardinals the past two weeks and the entire teams needs to re-evaluate their philosophy. Eli has been turning the ball over more lately and this is something that will start costing you games. The Cardinals shouldn’t have really beaten the Giants this past week, but some untimely turnovers by Eli caused the team to lose.

Many NFL Football Betting fans were worried about how the offence would do since the WR core is so young. Both Toomer and Burress are off the team this season and young players have had to fill in the void. Steve Smith has leading the way on the WR core with 594 yards and 4TD’s. Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham are both young, but they have both done a great job at filling in for Toomer and Burress. Manningham is going to be an amazing receiver in the NFL and I expect him to have a great career.

Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw have been getting the running game off to a great start this season. They have been slowed down the past couple games which is apart of the reason why they have been losing. When all of the pressure is on Eli it seems to me that Eli folds. When the running game gets going it opens up receivers down field for Manning and he also has a lot more time to hit the receivers. The two RB’s have combined for over 900 yards already this season and 5TD’s. Overall the Giants have the fifth ranked running game in the NFL right now after seven weeks.

One thing that might shock some people is that the Giants have the number one overall defence in the league as they only give up 262 yards per game. The Giants have been giving up an average of 20.4 nfl odds points per game though and this hasn’t helped them out the past couple weeks. The defence on the Giants have been able to keep the team in the game for every game this season except in week six against the Saints when they gave up over 40 points in the game. The offence when clicking on all cylinders has been great at scoring and winning games, but when they aren’t clicking they have looked terrible. Eli looked absolutely terrible against the Cardinals at home and if the NYG want to make the playoffs they better get their act together quickly.
